Saptadhatu Concept

The pillars of modern medicine are related to Indian system of medicine… Ayurveda. Let’s understand in brief the Dhatu siddhanta.

The term Dhatu is derived from the Sanskrit root `Du Dhatru’ which means Dharana (to support) and Poshan (to nourish), which promotes the growth of shareera (body) is dhatu. Dhatus are seven in numbers hence also termed as Saptadhatus.

If the body dysfunctions and formation of any one or more dhatus are affected then Saptdhatu imbalance occurs and takes a toll on the body. Diabetes mellitus also known as Prameha, Madhumeha or Madhupremaha is a chronic metabolic disorder in which the body is unable to make proper use of glucose resulting in hyperglycemia (high blood sugar) and glycosuria (sugar in urine).
